CLASS

Visual Research

This booklet is simply a way (or an attempt) to capture what I have in mind. In recent weeks, I have been immersed in constant research, resulting in a substantial archive of photographs, graphic documentation, and writings. This endeavor seeks to categorize the information in a general manner and make sense of it, with the purpose of disseminating the conducted research and posing questions at both a personal reflection level and for the reader.

'Modern Manifestations of Tourism' is a compilation that includes archival photographs, interviews, and books – among other things – that in one way or another address the theme of tourism in modern societies and its respective evolution and development, with a particular focus on my beloved city, Barcelona. My objective is to investigate the massification of tourism, which often leads to the loss of the city's identity, as well as to explore the term 'post-tourism.' Every time I embark on a project of a critical nature, the statement 'I am not an anthropologist' comes to mind. For this reason, I like to approach the project from a design perspective and understand how it plays a role in this complex situation.
